Rollas

Storefront of Rolla's with colorful clothing display and blue exterior building.

Our vision for a new Rolla's retail store was simply to create an environment encompassing the fashion brand’s personality: dynamic, full of life, and humbly understated.

For this new site, we not only wanted to develop the Rolla’s brand in the built environment and create the most hanging space to best represent the product—we also wanted to own various locations by contrasting with the surrounding landscape and being easily identifiable.

The ability to display and highlight full collections across fashion and accessories was a given. Our task was more nuanced: to give shape to a visual language that will allow the development of stores and provide a strong design foundation that will allow the team to easily make store updates.

Starting with the product itself, we infused the design with elements inspired by Rolla’s iconic logo and back pocket stitching. This authentic connection to the brand was reflected in the use of warm timbers and natural tones, creating a seamless customer experience.

We also leaned into the brand’s qualities of soft versus hard, bold versus restrained, and organic versus rigid. The result is a retail space expressed through a harmony of materiality, textures and colours. It sets distinctions between high, mid and low volume and tone, which enables the product to become the hero while never diluting the environment.

By establishing a clear design foundation, we've created a space that not only reflects Rolla’s current identity but also provides a framework for the brand's continued growth in new locations.
