Drawing on principles established across earlier venues, the interior continues Baker Bleu's foundational juxtaposition—the slow, irregular qualities of artisan production set against the precision of contemporary material. These ideas are distilled into a highly efficient retail model, where circulation, display and service are aligned to support a clear and intuitive customer journey.
Baker Bleu, Botanical

Located on Domain Road opposite the Royal Botanic Gardens, Baker Bleu South Yarra responds to the rhythms of the neighbourhood, where a visit for bread and pastries is often followed by time spent within the gardens.

Materials balance industrial efficiency with artisanal tactility—galvanised steel framing the bread, troweled render introducing a softer counterpoint.
Full-height glazing connects the bakery to the park opposite, allowing activity outside the tenancy to become part of the daily life of the space. The surrounding public realm accommodates everything from a morning ritual to an impromptu gathering.
Loaves, bagels and pastries are integrated directly into a galvanised steel bread wall—the soft and irregular set against the precise, ensuring the offering remains the primary focus of the space.
Custom glass-fronted drawers allow products to be stored and displayed simultaneously, reinforcing visibility throughout. A striped handle crafted from blackened brass and stainless steel introduces the material palette at the threshold.
Opposite, recycled aluminium panelling references the alveoli of the sourdough crumb while expressing the business's commitment to material reuse. An arched wall draws the eye through the space, its worked surface a quiet foil to the galvanised steel.
Retail elements are consolidated to maximise accessibility, with bread bags, books, packaged goods and refrigerated items arranged within a single visual field. Lighting, fixtures and exposed services contribute to a scheme that balances functionality with atmosphere.
Throughout the bakery, products and details are encountered at close range. This sense of proximity reinforces the immediacy of the offering, creating a direct relationship between customer, product and place that reflects the everyday nature of the Baker Bleu experience.
