Presented during Melbourne Design Week 2026, Tra Noi formed part of 100 CHAIRS, an exhibition by Friends & Associates at Abbotsford Convent. Bringing together more than 100 Australian designers, architects and makers, the exhibition celebrated the chair as a medium for experimentation, craftsmanship and contemporary design thinking. Designed by Iva Foschia in collaboration with Arthur G, Tra Noi explores the chair as an object of connection, translating ideas of family into a contemporary furniture piece.

Drawing on the lineage of 19th-century conversation chairs, Tra Noi reconsiders shared seating as a moment of closeness between parent and child. Conceived as two individual chairs that gently meet, the design allows separate elements to come together through proximity rather than attachment, forming a shared seat in the space between.

Set at a height between adult and child scale, the chair encourages comfort, eye-level connection and physical ease. Fully upholstered in a highly textured Fischbacher fabric, its continuous surface envelops the body with warmth, creating a subtle sense of being held. The richly tactile textile reinforces the chair’s sense of comfort while lending depth and softness to its sculptural form. When occupied together, the chairs form a quiet huddle: a moment of pause, reassurance and shared presence.
Inspired by the birth of her first child this year, alongside her Italian heritage, Iva Foschia conceived Tra Noi—translating from Italian as 'Between Us'—as a reflection on the relationships formed through closeness, care and connection. The chair frames shared seating as an intimate space between two people, where moments of comfort, interaction and togetherness are created.
